Orthokeratology: From Basics to Acing it – Dr Gavin Boneham
Dr Jason Holland’s presentation will include:
  • A succinct interpretation of DEWSII for application in clinical practice
  • An update on how dry eye management changes with DEWS II findings
  • A useful, practical guide on how existing dry eye products can be utilised for your patients and how they can be prescribed for different stages of dry eye disease

Dr Gavin Boneham’s presentation will include:

  • How to prescribe and calculate orthokeratology lenses for clinical practice
  • A trouble shooting guide to better design to get it right on the first lens and minimise remakes
  • A discussion of case studies to understand these principles

About our speakers


Mr Jason Holland B.App.Sci.(Hons)(Optom), PGOT, CASA CO
Jason graduated from QUT in 1994 with a Bach. Applied Science (Optometry) with Honors. He commenced work as a locum Optometrist in 1995 and spent time consulting in all corners of Australia.

In 2001 he commenced work with Ophthalmologist and Anterior Eye Specialist, Dr Andrew Apel, and has been providing pre and post-operative assistance at his Brisbane rooms to this day. In 2002 he became the National Director of Optometry for the Optical Superstore Group which engages 90 Optometrists at 65 locations across Australia.

In 2012 he completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics and became a Credentialed Optometrist with CASA, the Aviation Authority in Australia. He now runs a busy Glaucoma and advanced Dry Eye Clinic and has lectured on Contact Lenses and Dry Eye in Australia and across South East Asia. Jason served as a Director and Treasurer for Optometry Australia, QLD & NT, for 9 years until 2017,
he also served on the Optometry Australia National Board for three years and currently sits on the Deakin Optometry Advisory Board.

Dr Gavin Boneham.  BOptom, BSc, PhD.

Gavin is an optometrist specialising in difficult contact lens fittings, Orthokeratology and myopia prevention. He received his degrees from UNSW and spent the first half of his life as an academic, working at the School of Vision Science UNSW, and as a practising Optometrist.

He left academia in 2009 but remains a visiting fellow co managing the speciality contact lens clinic at the UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science.

He now concentrates on running his Sydney CBD practice and some clinical research, on cornealbiomechanics and Orthokeratology. He started fitting OK lenses 25 years ago and is the current President of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania
